Hmmmmm.....
Well, I had a lovely Mother's Day weekend and I hope the rest of you did too, (whether you are mothers or not!) But I was busy and didn't have time to write anything for the blog. So I thought I'd share this thought-provoking quote my friend Lisa gave me last week (instead of adding nothing!!!) While there are some parts of it I don't completely agree with (or would say differently), it still resonates with me.

ReplyDeleteAnyway, I just ran across a friend's blog which had a picture of her 4 year old daughter reading bday cards at a party. The caption said that she read all the cards! Proud Mommy! I'm sad to say that though Natalie first read at 3 and read well at 4 years, I always stopped her from reading cards at bday parties or reading anything in front of people because it made the other moms comment and it (I thought) made the other kids feel bad that they weren't reading yet. How silly am I stifling her awesome intelligence and gifts! How dumb of me... I just wanted to teach her to always be very sensitive to the feelings of others but I see now that I need to encourage her to be the best she can be and also do that myself.
I still have more to think about all this... I think when we are interested in serving God rather than making an impression on others, our hearts will be right and we'll do amazing things without any feeling like we should be "modest" about talents, etc.
Ok, sorry for the long winded comment! Caleb's now on my lap so I'm signing off without proofreading this!
